The Nizwa Mosque was built in the mid-17th century by Sultan bin Saif.

Sultan bin Saif al Yaarubi's fort at Nizwa took twelve years to build and was partially constructed with materials pillaged from other forts as spoils of war. It was completed in 1668.



Nizwa was the capital of Oman during the 6th and 7th centuries

Oman


I went to Oman for the first time earlier this year. I was recovering from typhoid, which I had picked up a few days before leaving India, so I wasn't able to do as much as anticipated in Oman, but it was still a good chance to do some exploring in a rarely-visited country.
